Lipetsk, July 25 - Six more prisoners escaped from the colony in the Lipetsk region, the press service of the regional department of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia told reporters.
“On July 24, it was established that six convicts left the industrial zone of the I correctional colony of strict regime of the Office of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Lipetsk region,” the press service of the department noted.
The escapees were serving sentences for murder, robbery and drug trafficking, the department said.
According to preliminary data, the escapees used a hacksaw to cut the bars in the window, the department said.
The search for escaped convicts is underway.
“In order to establish the whereabouts of the escaped convicts, the operational headquarters was created. Detachments of the Office of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Lipetsk region are involved in the search, as well as employees of other law enforcement agencies of the region,” the press service of the department said.
The Federal Penitentiary Service asks citizens for help in finding fugitives.
“Citizens are urged to report information about the whereabouts of escaped convicts to the nearest law enforcement agencies or by calling 02,” the agency said.
