China unveils colossal cargo drone rivaling aircraft in payload capacity

Chinese researchers have developed a massive cargo drone that can carry 10 tons of freight, matching the payload capacity of medium-sized aircraft.

The drone, known as the VT100, was unveiled at the Airshow China 2022 exhibition in Zhuhai, Guangdong province. It is powered by 16 electric motors and has a wingspan of 36 meters.

The VT100 is designed to transport cargo over long distances and can fly at a speed of 150 kilometers per hour. It has a range of 1,000 kilometers and can operate in all weather conditions.

The drone is equipped with an advanced navigation system and can be remotely controlled or operated autonomously. It also has a collision avoidance system to ensure safety.

The VT100 is expected to be used for a variety of applications, including transporting goods to remote areas, delivering emergency supplies, and providing humanitarian aid.

The development of the VT100 is a significant milestone in China's drone industry. It demonstrates the country's growing capabilities in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles.

The VT100 is not the only large cargo drone being developed in China. In 2021, the Chinese company EHang unveiled the EH216, a passenger drone that can carry up to six people.

The development of large cargo drones is a global trend. In 2020, the American company Boeing unveiled the Boeing Airpower Teaming System, a cargo drone that can carry up to 50 pounds of freight.

Large cargo drones are expected to play an increasingly important role in the future of logistics and transportation. They can significantly reduce the cost of transporting goods and provide new ways to deliver supplies to remote areas.
