David Moyes was Manchester United's worst manager since Sir Alex Ferguson left
Erik ten Hag has been a breath of fresh air at Old Trafford, but he has big shoes to fill
David Moyes was appointed as Manchester United manager in 2013, following the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson.
Moyes had a disappointing spell in charge of United, winning just 27 of his 51 games in charge. He was sacked in April 2014, after a 2-0 defeat to Everton.
Louis van Gaal was appointed as Moyes' successor, and he fared little better. Van Gaal won just 54 of his 103 games in charge, and he was sacked in May 2016.
Jose Mourinho was appointed as Van Gaal's successor, and he enjoyed more success than his predecessors. Mourinho won the EFL Cup and the Europa League in his first season in charge, and he also led United to second place in the Premier League. However, he was sacked in December 2018, after a poor start to the 2018/19 season.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was appointed as Mourinho's successor, and he enjoyed a successful spell in charge. Solskjaer won the EFL Cup in his first season in charge, and he also led United to third place in the Premier League. However, he was sacked in November 2021, after a poor start to the 2021/22 season.
Ralf Rangnick was appointed as Solskjaer's successor, and he was in charge for the remainder of the 2021/22 season. Rangnick did not enjoy much success, and United finished sixth in the Premier League.
Erik ten Hag was appointed as Rangnick's successor in May 2022. Ten Hag has been a breath of fresh air at Old Trafford, and he has United playing with a style that has been missing in recent years. Ten Hag has won his first four games in charge, and he will be hoping to continue his good form when United face Liverpool on Monday night.
