Aussie Star Continues Impressive Run of Form
Alex de Minaur has continued his impressive run of form, reaching the quarterfinals of the Erste Bank Open in Vienna. The Australian defeated sixth seed Jannik Sinner in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, to book his place in the last eight.
De Minaur has been in fine form in recent weeks, winning the Stockholm Open and reaching the semifinals in Antwerp. He is now up to 22nd in the world rankings, his highest-ever position.
Dominant Performance Against Sinner
De Minaur was in control from the start against Sinner, breaking the Italian's serve twice in the first set. He then saved a break point in the second set and broke Sinner again to take the match.
The win over Sinner was De Minaur's third against a top-10 player this season. He has also defeated Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev.
Quarterfinal Clash with Rublev
De Minaur will face another top-10 player in the quarterfinals, as he takes on Andrey Rublev. Rublev is the second seed in Vienna and is coming off a win over Cameron Norrie in the round of 16.
The match between De Minaur and Rublev will be a tough one, but the Australian will be confident of causing an upset. He has been in excellent form in recent weeks and will be looking to continue his impressive run in Vienna.
