Biography of Yevgeny Knyazev
Yevgeny Knyazev was born in 1949 in the city of Barnaul, Altai Krai. He graduated from the Moscow Art Theater School in 1973 and worked as an actor in theaters in Barnaul and Kemerovo. In 1988, together with director Gennady Trostyanetsky, he founded the Koleso Theater in Chelyabinsk.
Career and recognition
Knyazev was artistic director of the Koleso Theater from 1988 to 1995. During his leadership, the theater staged many notable productions, including "The Cherry Orchard" by Chekhov, "Hamlet" by Shakespeare, and "The Brothers Karamazov" by Dostoevsky.
In 1995, Knyazev left the Koleso Theater and founded his own theater, Teatr na Pesochnoy (Theater on Pesochnaya). He staged performances based on the works of Russian and foreign authors, including Pushkin, Gogol, Bulgakov, and Camus.
Knyazev was awarded the title of People's Artist of the Russian Federation in 2006.

Yevgeny Knyazev died on February 17, 2023, at the age of 73. His death was a great loss to the Russian theater community. He was remembered as a talented actor, director, and teacher who dedicated his life to theater.
