Espanyol vs Sevilla: Preview
La Liga giants Sevilla travel to Barcelona to take on Espanyol in a mouthwatering La Liga clash on Sunday.
Both teams need a win to boost their respective top-four hopes as the season enters its final stretch.
Espanyol
Espanyol have been in impressive form of late, winning three of their last four games, including a 2-1 victory over Real Madrid.
They currently sit 11th in the table, but a win on Sunday would move them up to eighth and within touching distance of the European places.
Manager Vicente Moreno will be without the suspended Leandro Cabrera for the visit of Sevilla, but otherwise has a fully fit squad to choose from.
Sevilla
Sevilla are also in good form, having won four of their last five games in all competitions.
They are currently fourth in the table, but a win on Sunday would move them up to second, level on points with leaders Real Madrid.
Manager Julen Lopetegui will be without the injured Jules Kounde and Karim Rekik for the trip to Espanyol, but otherwise has a fully fit squad to choose from.
Head-to-head
The head-to-head record between Espanyol and Sevilla is very close, with both teams winning 13 games each in the last 26 meetings.
The last time the two teams met, Sevilla won 2-0 at home in December 2021.
Prediction
This is a tough game to call, with both teams in good form.
However, Sevilla have the better squad and should be considered the slight favorites.
A 2-1 away win for the visitors looks a likely outcome.
