FC St. Pauli continued its strong start to the Bundesliga season with a 2-0 win over VfL Wolfsburg on Sunday. The win lifts St. Pauli to fifth place in the table, while Wolfsburg remains in 12th place.

St. Pauli took the lead in the first half through a goal from Guido Burgstaller. The Austrian striker scored his second goal of the season in the 25th minute, finishing off a cross from Daniel-Kofi Kyereh.

St. Pauli doubled its lead in the second half through a goal from Jackson Irvine. The Australian midfielder scored his first goal for the club in the 70th minute, finishing off a cross from Leart Paqarada.

Wolfsburg had a chance to get back into the game in the 80th minute, but Maximilian Arnold's penalty was saved by St. Pauli goalkeeper Dennis Smarsch.

The win is St. Pauli's third in its last four Bundesliga matches. The club has now won four of its first seven matches of the season, its best start to a Bundesliga campaign since 2010/11.

Wolfsburg, meanwhile, has now lost three of its last four Bundesliga matches. The club has won just one of its first seven matches of the season, its worst start to a Bundesliga campaign since 2015/16.
