“Golden double”: sports film on “Ararat 73” and Nikita Simonyan to be released on big screen in 2025

The football club “Ararat-73” will be 50 years old in 2023.

The legendary team, which won the USSR championship and Cup the same year, will celebrate its anniversary with a big premiere - a feature film “Golden double”.

The film is directed by Vigen Chaldranyan and produced by the National Cinema Center of Armenia. The main roles in the film were played by Hayk Marutyan (Nikita Simonyan) and Aram Sargsyan (Eduard Markarov).

The film tells about the legendary victory of “Ararat-73”, which became the champion of the USSR in 1973, and a year later won the USSR Cup.

The film also reflects the fate of the legendary coach of the team Nikita Simonyan. The film crew has already started filming in Yerevan, Moscow and the Crimea.

The premiere of the film is scheduled for 2025, the 50th anniversary of the victory of “Ararat-73”.
