LeBron's Preseason Status: "No Participation - Getting Older"
Los Angeles Lakers Coach Provides Update
Statement Highlights King's Age as Factor in Decision
Los Angeles Lakers coach Darvin Ham announced Tuesday that LeBron James will not play in the team's preseason opener against the Sacramento Kings due to age-related considerations.
Ham stated, "LeBron is a veteran player, and we have to be mindful of his age and workload. He's still recovering from last season, and we want to make sure he's ready for the regular season." James, who will turn 38 in December, is entering his 20th NBA season and played 56 games last year due to injuries.
The Lakers have a busy preseason schedule, with six games in 10 days. Ham emphasized the importance of managing James' minutes to avoid potential setbacks. "We want to get him some run in the preseason, but we're not going to push it too hard." James is expected to play in the Lakers' second preseason game against the Phoenix Suns on October 6th.
James' absence from the preseason opener has sparked some concern among Lakers fans. However, Ham reassured that the decision was made with James' long-term health in mind. "We're not worried about him missing one game. We're focused on getting him ready for the regular season and making sure he's 100%."
