M-11 Motorway Closed Down in Direction of Saint Petersburg Due to Truck Fire
Trucks Caught Fire Near Solnechnogorsk
On the M-11 motorway, near the city of Solnechnogorsk, about 20 kilometers from Moscow, a truck caught fire. As a result, the traffic in the direction of Saint Petersburg was temporarily restricted.According to preliminary data, the fire broke out in the truck's cabin. The truck driver managed to get out of the vehicle on his own before the fire spread. He did not need medical assistance.
Other vehicles that were nearby also caught fire. However, there were no injuries.
The fire brigade arrived at the scene, but the extinguishing was complicated by the fact that the truck was carrying transformers filled with oil.Traffic Is Temporarily Restricted
Due to the fire, the traffic in the direction of Saint Petersburg was temporarily restricted. The M-11 motorway was closed from the 43rd to the 57th kilometer. Traffic was diverted to the old Leningrad highway.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations advises drivers to avoid this section of the road and use alternative routes.
The causes of the fire are being investigated.
