Niklas Süle faces absence from Bundesliga match
Bayern Munich defender Niklas Süle could miss the upcoming Bundesliga match
Süle picked up a knock in training and is a doubt for the game against Borussia Mönchengladbach
Bayern Munich defender Niklas Süle is a doubt for the upcoming Bundesliga match against Borussia Mönchengladbach after picking up a knock in training.
The Germany international suffered a muscle problem in his left thigh and is undergoing treatment.
Süle is one of Bayern's most important players and his absence would be a blow to the team's chances of winning the Bundesliga title.
The 26-year-old has been in good form for Bayern this season, scoring three goals in 19 appearances in all competitions.
If Süle is ruled out of the game against Gladbach, Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann could opt to play Benjamin Pavard at center-back alongside Dayot Upamecano.
Pavard has played at center-back for Bayern before and is a capable replacement for Süle.
However, Nagelsmann may also decide to bring in Lucas Hernandez to play alongside Upamecano.
Hernandez is a natural center-back and has been in good form for Bayern this season.
The France international has made 17 appearances in all competitions for Bayern this season, scoring one goal.
Nagelsmann will make a decision on Süle's availability after assessing the defender's condition in training.
Bayern are currently top of the Bundesliga table, one point ahead of Borussia Dortmund.
The Bavarians will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the table with a win against Gladbach.
Gladbach are ninth in the Bundesliga table and will be looking to cause an upset against Bayern.
The game between Bayern and Gladbach will be played on Saturday, February 18.
