Niklas Süle faces Bayern Munich absence after coronavirus diagnosis
Bayern Munich centre-back Niklas Süle is a doubt for his side's upcoming Bundesliga clash against Bayer Leverkusen after testing positive for coronavirus, the club have confirmed.
The 26-year-old, who missed Germany's recent internationals through injury, returned a positive test on Tuesday.
Süle is now isolating at home and will miss Bayern's Champions League clash against Dynamo Kyiv on Wednesday.
The defender is also a doubt for Bayern's Bundesliga game against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.
A statement on Bayern's official website read: "Niklas Süle has tested positive for the coronavirus. The defender is fully vaccinated and is doing well.
"He is isolating at home and will not be available for the Champions League match against Dynamo Kyiv on Wednesday."
Süle's positive test is a blow to Bayern, who are already without a number of players through injury.
Lucas Hernandez, Bouna Sarr and Josip Stanisic are all out with muscular problems, while Kingsley Coman and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting are recovering from Covid-19.
Bayern will be hoping to have Süle back available for their crucial Champions League clash against Barcelona on 8 December.
The German champions are currently top of Group E, two points ahead of Barcelona.
