Pjanić: “I hope that FIFA will return Russia tomorrow”
Bosnian midfielder Miralem Pjanić spoke about the possible return of the Russian national team to international competitions.
Pjanić expressed his hope that FIFA will make a positive decision on this issue in the near future.
“I hope that FIFA will return Russia tomorrow,” Pjanić said. “I think that the Russian national team deserves to play at the international level. They are a strong team with a lot of talented players. I am confident that they will be able to achieve great results if they are given the opportunity to compete again.”
Pjanić’s comments come after FIFA and UEFA suspended all Russian teams from international competitions following the country’s invasion of Ukraine. The ban has been in place since February 28, 2022.
FIFA has said that it will continue to monitor the situation in Ukraine and make a decision on the ban in due course. However, it is unclear when that decision will be made.
Pjanić is not the only player who has spoken out in support of Russia’s return to international football. Former Russian international Andrey Arshavin has also called for the ban to be lifted.
It remains to be seen whether FIFA will lift the ban on Russian teams. However, Pjanić’s comments suggest that there is growing support for the Russian national team to be allowed to compete again.
