Six Convicts Escape Lipetsk Correctional Colony-2 Through Undermining

Lipetsk Region, Russia -

On Saturday October 29, 2022, six inmates absconded from Lipetsk Correctional Colony-2, escaping through an underground tunnel, according to the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service. The escapees have been identified as: * Denis G. (serving time for murder) * Alexander B. (serving time for robbery) * Sergei K. (serving time for drug trafficking) * Ivan P. (serving time for fraud) * Alexei S. (serving time for hooliganism) * Dmitry N. (serving time for theft) The tunnel, measuring approximately 15 meters long and 1 meter wide, was discovered during an inspection of the facility. It is believed that the escape took place over several months, with the inmates working on the tunnel in shifts. At the time of their escape, the inmates were serving various sentences ranging from five to fifteen years. They are considered dangerous and should not be approached. The authorities have launched a manhunt for the escapees and have requested the assistance of the public in apprehending them. Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the escapees is urged to contact the police. The Lipetsk Correctional Colony-2 is a medium-security prison that houses over 1,000 inmates. It is located in the city of Lipetsk, approximately 400 kilometers southeast of Moscow. This is the second major escape from a Russian prison in recent months. In August, eight inmates escaped from a prison in the city of Rostov-on-Don. All eight of those escapees have since been recaptured. The escapes from Russian prisons have raised concerns about the security of the country's penal system. The authorities have pledged to take steps to improve security at prisons in order to prevent future escapes.
