Six Inmates Escape From Correctional Colony in Lipetsk
Lipetsk authorities are searching for six inmates who escaped from a correctional colony in the city on Monday.
The escapees were identified as:
- Sergei Alexandrovich Kuznetsov, 32, serving a sentence for murder
- Ivan Petrovich Sidorov, 27, serving a sentence for robbery
- Alexei Mikhailovich Ivanov, 25, serving a sentence for drug trafficking
- Dmitry Sergeevich Petrov, 23, serving a sentence for assault
- Maxim Igorevich Popov, 21, serving a sentence for theft
- Artem Vladimirovich Smirnov, 19, serving a sentence for hooliganism
The inmates escaped from the colony at around 10:00 p.m. local time on Monday. They are believed to have used a ladder to scale the perimeter fence.
The authorities have launched a manhunt for the escapees and have set up checkpoints on all major roads in the area. They are urging the public to report any suspicious activity to the police.
The escape is the second from a correctional colony in Lipetsk in the past year. In January, three inmates escaped from the city's IK-2 colony. All three were later apprehended.
The authorities are investigating how the inmates were able to escape and have promised to take steps to prevent future escapes.
