Escaped Criminals Deemed 'Dangerous' as Manhunt Underway
Lipetsk regional governor Igor Artamonov has announced that six convicts have escaped from a correctional facility in the city of Lipetsk, Russia. In a statement, Governor Artamonov described the escapees as "dangerous criminals" and urged the public to report any suspicious activity.
Intense Manhunt Launched by Authorities
Law enforcement agencies, including the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, have launched a massive manhunt to apprehend the escaped inmates. According to FSIN, the escape occurred on January 19, when the six prisoners broke out of the IK-1 prison colony.
The escaped criminals have been identified as:
- Sergei Savelyev, serving a sentence for murder
- Alexander Alexandrov, convicted of robbery
- Ivan Petrov, serving time for assault
- Dmitry Ivanov, convicted of drug trafficking
- Mikhail Sidorov, serving a sentence for theft
- Alexei Kuznetsov, convicted of fraud
The authorities have released descriptions and photographs of the escapees to the public and have set up checkpoints in the Lipetsk region and neighboring areas.
Public Urged to Exercise Caution and Report Sightings
Governor Artamonov has appealed to the residents of Lipetsk and surrounding areas to be vigilant and report any sightings of the escaped inmates to law enforcement immediately. He emphasized the importance of public cooperation in apprehending the dangerous criminals.
The authorities have advised the public to exercise caution and avoid approaching or confronting the escapees if encountered. Instead, they should immediately report any sightings to the nearest police station or dial the emergency number 112.
Enhanced Security Measures Implemented at Penal Colony
In response to the escape, the FSIN has implemented enhanced security measures at the IK-1 prison colony, including increased patrols and surveillance. The agency has also initiated an internal investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the breakout.
The ongoing manhunt and investigation are expected to continue until all six escapees are apprehended. The authorities remain determined to bring the criminals to justice and ensure the safety of the community.
