Six prisoners escape from a penal colony in Lipetsk Oblast
Convicts dug an underground passage to freedom
The fugitives are still at large
On the night of August 22-23, six prisoners escaped from the IK-4 penal colony in Lipetsk Oblast, Russia. The convicts dug an underground passage from the basement of the prison barracks to a nearby forest.
The escape was discovered during the morning roll call. The prison administration immediately notified the police and launched a search operation.
The fugitives are all male, aged between 22 and 35. They were all serving sentences for various crimes, including murder, robbery, and drug trafficking.
The authorities have released the names and photographs of the fugitives and have asked for the public's help in locating them.
This is not the first time that prisoners have escaped from IK-4. In 2018, three inmates escaped from the colony by climbing over the prison fence.
The escape of six prisoners from IK-4 is a serious security breach and raises questions about the adequacy of the prison's security measures.
