Six prisoners escape from colony in Lipetsk
Convicts serving various sentences broke out of the closed section of the correctional facility, the press service of the regional GUFSIN reported.
“On July 23, at about two o’clock in the morning, six convicts escaped from the local correctional colony No. 4 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Lipetsk Region. All of them were serving sentences in a closed area,” the department said.
The escapees are now on the wanted list. A check is being carried out, operational-search activities are being taken to establish the whereabouts of the fugitives and detain them.
According to preliminary data, the convicts escaped through a hole in the fence.
The prosecutor's office of the Lipetsk region launched a criminal case of escape from places of detention under Part 2 of Article 313 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
The article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of three to eight years, up to life imprisonment.
