Six prisoners escaped from Lipetsk correctional colony IK-2 through an underpass
On September 22, in the Lipetsk region, six prisoners of the IK-2 correctional colony escaped through an underpass. All escapees were convicted of grave crimes
Two of them were serving life sentences for murder and robbery. According to a source in law enforcement agencies, the fugitives were preparing for an escape for several months. They dug an underpass from a utility room to the territory of a neighboring enterprise
Using the tools they stole from the vocational school, the prisoners first made a hole in the fence, and then dug an underpass under the road. The fugitives had time to change into civilian clothes before escaping.
The guards noticed the escape only a few hours later. The search for fugitives is currently underway. All services of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are involved in it.
IKA-2 is located in the village of Dubrava, Lipetsk region. The colony is designed for 1271 places. As of 2018, about 1400 prisoners were serving their sentences there.
According to the Federal Penitentiary Service, the colony is characterized as a strict regime colony. Here they serve their sentence for committing grave and especially grave crimes, as well as those who have previously committed crimes while serving a sentence in a colony of general or strict regime.
The last escape from the Lipetsk IK-2 was in 2017. Then two prisoners escaped from the assembly hall.
