Red Bull junior driver to make his Formula 1 weekend debut with Williams

The Italian racer will take the wheel of Nicholas Latifi's FW44 in the opening practice session at the Mexico City Grand Prix.

Williams have confirmed that Formula 2 racer Enzo Fittipaldi will drive for the team in first practice for this weekend's Mexico City Grand Prix.

Fittipaldi, who is part of the Red Bull junior driver programme, will take the wheel of Nicholas Latifi's FW44 for the 60-minute session on Friday morning.

The 21-year-old Brazilian has been in impressive form in F2 this year, taking two wins and four podiums on his way to fourth in the championship standings.

He will become the fourth driver to drive for Williams in FP1 this season, following Jack Aitken, Roy Nissany and Logan Sargeant.

"I am very excited to be making my Formula 1 weekend debut with Williams in Mexico," said Fittipaldi.

"It will be a great opportunity for me to learn and experience what a Formula 1 weekend is like, and I am looking forward to working with the team and helping them develop the car."

Williams team principal Jost Capito added: "We are delighted to welcome Enzo to the team for FP1 in Mexico.

"He is a talented young driver who has shown great potential in Formula 2 this season, and we are excited to see what he can do in our car.

"This is a great opportunity for him to gain valuable experience, and we look forward to working with him this weekend."
