Escape from prison

Two prisoners escaped from the penal colony in the Black Earth region. The fugitives were detained on the territory of the Voronezh region. Now the court has chosen a preventive measure for them.

Court decision

On July 20, 2023, the court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention in custody for two accused of escaping from the colony.

The court established that two convicts serving a sentence for committing grave crimes escaped from the territory of the correctional colony on July 18, 2023.

The detainees are placed in a pre-trial detention center for a period of two months, until September 16, 2023.

Investigation

Investigators of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Voronezh Region opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Art. 313 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Escape from a place of detention."

During the investigation of the criminal case, investigators will establish all the circumstances of the crime committed, including the reasons and conditions that contributed to the escape of convicts.

Consequences of escape

The escape from prison is a serious crime that entails criminal liability.

In accordance with Part 2 of Art. 313 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, escape from a place of detention, committed by a person previously convicted of crimes of a grave and especially grave category, or committed by a group of persons by prior agreement or by an organized group, is punishable by imprisonment for a term of three to eight years.
