Yellow Submarine Strike Twice Late To Earn Share Of The Spoils

Villarreal CF fought back from behind to draw 2-2 with Real Valladolid at the Estadio José Zorrilla on Sunday afternoon.

The Yellow Submarine fell behind to a 40th-minute strike from Shon Weissman, but they leveled the scores through Alex Baena just before half-time.

Valladolid regained the lead through Cyle Larin in the 57th minute, but Villarreal fought back again to equalize through Nicolas Jackson in the 81st minute.

The result leaves Villarreal in fifth place in the LaLiga standings, while Valladolid are in 14th place.

Villarreal started the match brightly and had the first chance of the game, but Giovani Lo Celso's shot was saved by Valladolid goalkeeper Jordi Masip.

Valladolid grew into the game and took the lead in the 40th minute when Weissman headed home a cross from Ivan Fresneda.

Villarreal responded well to going behind and leveled the scores just before half-time when Baena fired home a low shot from the edge of the area.

Valladolid regained the lead in the 57th minute when Larin headed home a cross from Gonzalo Plata.

Villarreal continued to push for an equalizer and were rewarded in the 81st minute when Jackson fired home a low shot from the edge of the area.

Both teams had chances to win the game in the closing stages, but neither side could find a winning goal.

Villarreal manager Quique Setién was happy with his team's performance.

"I am happy with the point," he said. "We played well and created a lot of chances. We could have won the game, but we also could have lost it. In the end, a draw was a fair result."

Valladolid manager Pacheta was also happy with his team's performance.
