The public prosecutor's office demands 12 years in prison for a resident of Vyborg, Leningrad Region, who planned a terrorist act. This was reported on Thursday, August 18, by the press service of the department on its official website.

The terrorist planned to blow up a high-rise building using a homemade bomb

As the investigation found out, the man had been planning a terrorist attack for a long time. He collected information about the design of high-rise buildings, studied the methods of making improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and purchased the necessary components. The terrorist planned to carry out an explosion in a high-rise building in the city of Vyborg using a homemade bomb.

The plans of the terrorist were thwarted by FSB officers. The security forces detained the man and seized a cache of weapons and explosives from him. During the investigation, the detainee pleaded guilty to preparing a terrorist attack and gave detailed testimony.

The criminal case was sent to the Vyborg City Court for consideration on the merits. The public prosecutor's office demands that the terrorist be sentenced to 12 years in prison.
