New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone announced on Sunday that Nestor Cortes will start Tuesday night's Wild Card Game against the Cleveland Guardians.
Cortes has been one of the Yankees' most consistent pitchers this season, posting a 3.49 ERA and 1.00 WHIP in 17 starts.
The 27-year-old left-hander has also been effective in the postseason, allowing just one run in 6 2/3 innings pitched in two appearances last year.
Cortes will be opposed by Guardians right-hander Shane Bieber, who is 13-8 with a 2.88 ERA this season.
The Wild Card Game is scheduled to start at 7:37 p.m. ET on Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium.
