Obama rallies for Harris at Georgia GOTV event

Former President Barack Obama joined Vice President Kamala Harris at a GOTV rally in Georgia on Tuesday, October 25, 2022.

With just days to go before the midterm elections, Obama rallied voters, and touted Democratic candidates up and down the ballot in a bid to increase enthusiasm.

Obama's appearance in Georgia is part of a broader effort by Democrats to boost turnout in the state, which has become increasingly competitive in recent years. In 2020, Biden became the first Democratic presidential candidate to win Georgia since 1992.

During his speech, Obama praised Harris for her work as vice president and said she is "ready to lead" the country. He also criticized Republicans, saying they are "trying to make it harder for people to vote" and are "attacking our democracy."

Harris, who is running for re-election, thanked Obama for his support and said she is "honored" to have him on the campaign trail. She also urged voters to turn out on Election Day, saying that "the future of our democracy is at stake."

The rally was held at the Georgia International Convention Center in College Park. Several other Democratic candidates, including gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, also spoke at the event.
