Two escaped prisoners from the Chernozemye colony were tried in Voronezh
Prisoners were convicted of attempted murder of police officers
On Wednesday, August 17, 2023, two escaped prisoners from the Chernozemye colony, located in the Voronezh region, were convicted by the court of the attempted murder of two police officers.
Escape attempt and detention
On the morning of July 20, 2023, Aleksey Pakhomov (born in 1985) and Roman Prokopov (born in 1989), serving time for robbery, escaped from the penal colony. The fugitives were detained on July 22, 2023, in the forest near the village of Malaya Khava, Anninsky district, Voronezh region. During the detention, the criminals opened fire on police officers from a Makarov pistol. As a result of the shootout, one policeman received a gunshot wound to the leg, another to the chest.
Sentencing
The court found Pakhomov and Prokopov guilty under Part 3 of Article 30 and Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“attempted murder of two or more persons”). The convicts were sentenced to 22 and 20 years in prison, respectively, to be served in a strict regime colony.
