Wood's brace earns Foresters victory over Leicester

Leicester City 1-2 Notts County

Notts County moved into the play-off places with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over 10-man Leicester City at King Power Stadium on Tuesday night.

Neal Ardley's men took the lead in the first half through Kane Hemmings but Leicester hit back almost immediately through Kelechi Iheanacho. However, Leicester's hopes of a comeback were dealt a blow when Daniel Amartey was sent off for a second bookable offence in the 55th minute.

Notts County took advantage of their numerical advantage and grabbed the winner 10 minutes later through Jorge Grant. The victory moves Notts County up to fifth in the table, while Leicester remain in 12th.

Notts County started the game brightly and took the lead in the 10th minute. Kane Hemmings was played through on goal by Jorge Grant and he made no mistake, firing past Kasper Schmeichel.

Leicester responded well to going behind and equalised just four minutes later. Kelechi Iheanacho was played in behind the Notts County defence by James Maddison and he calmly slotted the ball past Ross Fitzsimons.

The game then settled down into a midfield battle, with both teams struggling to create clear-cut chances. However, the game burst into life again in the 55th minute when Daniel Amartey was sent off for a second bookable offence.
